HOW IT WORKS!
We are a group of around 36 players who enjoy regular, competitive games that are
played in a friendly spirit. We've been in existence since 2001.... founded by the
lovely Jane Lawrence, retired school Principal living in London, UK.

If you'd like to join, please send our Administrator, Jenny an email - she'll get back
to you within a day.

Above all else, we ask our players to respect the Tourney Rules and other players.... whilst we understand that life can get in the way of Scrabble, we especially request that slow play requirements be observed.

Organisation......
Run like a round-robin, the duration is either 2 or 4 weeks (starting on Sunday; ending on Saturday - UTC time). There are setup tables for each tournament that are password protected and a "ready-to-go" email starts the tournaments.

We currently have five different tournament styles and we use the virtual board on the Pixie Pit site....
1. FC Scrabble
Regular Scrabble, regular-sized board (100 tiles), 2 weeks.
Played in 6 or 7 divisions, there are 10/12 games played over a 2-week period.

2. FC Clabbers
Clabbers - anagram style, regular-sized board (100 tiles), 4 weeks.
Usually only 1 or 2 divisions with around 4/5 players.

3. Super Troopers
Regular Scrabble, super-sized board (200 tiles), 4 weeks.
Played in the same way as the FC tournaments, but on a super board, there are 3 or 4 divisions.

4. SS Clabbers
Clabbers - anagram style, super-sized board (200 tiles), 4 weeks.
Usually only 1 or 2 divisions with around 4/5 players. This called the "Royal" division... have a look!

5. ZFC Scrabble
Regular Scrabble, regular-sized board (100 tiles), 4 weeks.
This particular tourney was introduced to acommodate players who are unable to finish their games within 2 weeks, but are keen to continue playing Scrabble.
Tourneys end at midnight (UTC time) on a Saturday night and setup details for the next round are published the next day on this website. The setup tables are password protected to keep secure, the email addresses of our members.
Annual Fees......
There is an annual fee (paid through Paypal) for the administration of the tournament and website hosting fees of €12.00 per year and a further $15.00 annual fee payable to the PixiePit virtual Scrre abble site who kindly provide us with dedicated team rooms.

Playing the game......
Because of it's virtual nature, it's not possible to police the use of wordfinders, so they are allowed. Although it may detract from the original game for some players, strategy becomes the focus!

We have regular Scrabble and Clabbers - for those who are not familiar with the latter, please look at the Wikipedia definition for a full explanation.

Scoring......
Final score emails for each game are generated by the PixiePit system and whilst this is generally quite reliable, it does happen from time to time that emails go astray. Please keep your own record of final game scores. If you spot a missing or incorrect score, please send an email to Jenny.

We have a Hall of Fame reflecting the Top 20 highest scoring words (bingo and non-bingo) or game scores - players should keep an eye on these tables and their own scores to see who they can knock off the table.

Refer a friend.....
Before sending their details, direct friends to this website to read through the Tourney Rules. Whilst we welcome new players with open arms, it seems that they are sometimes overwhelmed by the commitment to getting through all of the games and the fact that they need to finish 80% of those games to take part in the next tourney. Once a player decides that a life of Scrabble is just what's wanted, they'll be slotted into the tourney/s of their choice.
